Which Sustainable Development Goals will your Monster work on?

Argentina

Sol Delgado's mixed grade class of students ages 5-9. We’re from Tandil, Argentina. The name of our English school is ICI Instituto de Inglés Tandil. Located in Tandil, Argentina.

About our school: ICI English institute (Tandil City) 37° 19′ S latitude and 59° 08′ O longitude. It can get really cold in winter (below 0) and quite hot in the summer. Were talking about sustainable development goals: 12 (responsible consumption REUSE AND RECYCLE) 13 Climate action- take care of our planet and 17 Partnerships for the goals- work together

Brazil

Dear Dr. Terry, good afternoon!

Thank you for the invitation; however, we will not be able to participate in this wonderful project this year.
We are based in Rio de Janeiro, and our headquarters sustained structural damage after a tree fell, leaving the facility out of operation. We are currently conducting sports activities in a public space, and there is no classroom available for us to carry out this activity next month.I hope to participate next year and wish everyone an excellent educational program.

Best regards, Milene Fernandes

Canada

Heather Sigurdson, teacher & Learning Leader, has signed up 5 grade 1 classes from Royal Oak School in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

We are a group of 110 Grade 1 students in Calgary, Alberta, approximately 51.05° N latitude, 114.09° W longitude, and 3,419 feet above sea level. Calgary has the Rocky Mountains to the west, where you can hike, ski, horseback ride, and snowshoe, and the prairies to the east. Calgary has four seasons. In the fall, the leaves change colours and fall from the trees. The weather can change quickly, so we need to wear clothing that keeps us warm or cool. Winters can be very cold and snowy. We can build snowmen and snow forts, sled, ski, and play in the snow. In the spring, the snow melts and plants begin to grow. Summers can be hot, so people enjoy swimming, riding bikes and scooters, camping, going to parks, hiking, and eating ice cream.

Calgary has a famous landmark, the Calgary Tower, which has a revolving restaurant high above the city. We have special events like the Calgary Stampede, where you can watch cowboys riding horses, see animals, enjoy shows and fireworks, and play games.
We have the Calgary Flames, our hockey team, the Calgary Stampeders, our Canadian football team, the Calgary Zoo, and Calaway Park.
Calgary is a wonderful place to live, learn, work, celebrate, and play!
If our monster used Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), our monster would keep our city clean, protect animals, save water, and create clean energy by focusing on..

Greece

Teacher Kiki Xynta. My school is Global Land Foreign Languages Kiki Xynta in Skydra, Greece. My students' ages in the project is 12-14.

The weather in Greece is usually sunny. We have a mild climate with low temperatures reaching 7 degrees celcius and high temperatures reaching 38-40 degrees. Our town is in the north of Greece and is a peaceful place surrounded by greenery.

We chose SDG goal 16 peace and justice because we believe that wars must stop and people have to stop being greedy. Our planet deserves peace, prosperity and quiet as it has been battered by many evil forces.

Poland

Aleksandra Zupok, Polish language teacher at Zespół Szkolno-Przedszkolny nr 5 (School and Kindergarten Complex No. 5) in Tychy, Poland. Students are 10 years old in 4th grade. We would like to join your project about monsters. My students are creative, eager to take on new challenges, and know how to work together. I think it will be an amazing adventure for them.

Latitude/Longitude: (50.13717°N, 18.96641°E). We have about 320 students aged 7-15. Even though we are a small school, we often get involved in international projects, and we are also a UNESCO-affiliated school. Tychy is a city of about 120,000 residents, full of greenery and pleasant to live in. People here have a positive attitude towards life and are open to new friendships and activities, hence our request to be able to join the project.

Weather:  Autumn has already begun in Poland. Just a week ago, it was 20 degrees Celsius when we were cleaning the forest for the "Clean Up the World" campaign. Now it's 12 degrees Celsius and it's still raining.
Usually, at this time of year we have Indian summer.

In summer the temperature ranges between 20 and 35 degrees Celsius, and in winter between -15 and +5 degrees Celsius.

This year we are working on goal number 6 from The Global Goals – we are trying to ensure clean water in our city. We thought about an eco-monster, maybe we could suggest a description of its hands, which can help or take care of the environment.

Saudi Arabia

We are grade 3 and 4 students in Ms. Jessica's Monster Making lunch club at Ras Tanura Elementary School in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Our latitude and longitude is approximately 26.64° N, 50.16° E. The temperatures here can get as high as 44° C (112° F) and as low as 12° C (53° F).

We are made up of many different nationalities. Some of the places we are from are India, the Philippines, Egypt, Malaysia, USA, Nigeria, Ireland, Pakistan, Canada, Singapore, South Korea, and the UK. We enjoy playing with our friends, football (soccer), squishies, and riding our bikes around the neighborhood. The SDG that we want to focus on this year is Life on Land. Even though we live in the desert, there are a lot of living things around here. We have desert foxes, camels, different types of birds, scorpions, geckos, lots of cats and even more!

Turkiye

Duygu Ergen at 27 Aralık Lions Secondary School is a small school located in Ankara, the capital of Turkiye. The school has approximately 450 students. The students' ages are between 10-14.

The approximate latitude of Ankara is 39.9334 N and the approximate longitude is 32.8597 E.
The weather has a semi-arid continental climate with hot and relatively dry summers and cold winters.

SDG 4- Quality Education is particularly important for our school because education is the foundation for creating a more sustainable inclusive and resilient society. A school is not only a place where students gain academic knowledge, it is also a place where they develop environmental awareness, digital skills, social responsibility and the ability to participate actively in their communities. SDG 4 matters for all the students of the world because it promotes equal and inclusive learning opportunities. It supports the development of digital and 21st century skills. It encourages students to become active and responsible citizens. It can connect classroom learning with real life sustainable challenges. It supports international cooperation and sharing of good educational practices.

New Hampshire

Hello, Monster Creators around the globe! We are the fourth-grade class at Lafayette Regional School in Franconia, New Hampshire, USA. We have 11 students: 9 girls and 2 boys. The boys are strong and would love to have more boys join their class if anybody wants to move. :) We do a lot of fun projects while learning a ton. We have already started a hydroponic farm and learned how airplanes fly in the first week.

There are about 100 students, Grades K -6, in our entire school. Our school is nestled in the shadows of Cannon and Lafayette Mountains. They are part of the White Mountain National Forest (home to Mt Washington, the world's worst weather). In the winter, we ski/snowboard those mountains or just take a sled ride down some of the local hills. Spring is sugaring time, and we tap trees. Yum! Yum! In the summer, we hike the mountains and swim in places like Echo Lake. Fall is beautiful, with foliage and the leaves turning brilliant reds, yellows, and oranges.

Coordinates 44.2272° N, 71.7479° W -- Avg Temps. 6 F in winter to 80 F in summer.

Our Sustainable Goals are 1 and 2. We are learning how 30-40% of all the food we grow/prepare is wasted.
