Which Sustainable Development Goals will your Monster work on?

Brazil

Milene Fernandes
We are from Casa Amarela, a Charitable Institute, on the South Coast of Bahia, Brazil.
Our location is located at latitude 16⁰29'S and longitude 39⁰05'W.  We have a group of peripheral children, ages 6 to 14.

On Wednesday, there will be a meeting with more children interested in the Monster. The neighborhood is slowly returning to its normal routine, with families asking their children to stay home until they feel safer. The children who participate in the program live nearby and are eager for educational activities and to experience this space of peace, respect, and friendship.

Hello, dear team. Good evening everyone. This is Milene, I'm directing Casa Amarela, a charity focused on education, nutrition, and positive behavior. We are located in an area with low purchasing power. Sometimes there's insecurity here due to leadership conflicts. We face sad tragedies, and other times we have magical and peaceful days, guided by an enthusiastic team of children filled with hope. The temperature here, on the southern coast of Bahia, generally ranges from 23°C (73°F) to 30°C (86°F) in the summer, from December to February. In winter, from June to September, temperatures range between 22°C (72°F) and 26°C (86°F) with little seasonal variation. The city of Santa Cruz Cabrália was the landing site of the Portuguese in the 16th century and is the closest point of the African continent to South America.

Our school is called Global Land Language School Kiki Xynta. It is a private School and we have groups up to 8 children. We teach students of all ages and we have separated our classes according to level. We believe in the power of ongoing sustainable learning and the power of communicating with schools all around the world. We also believe that children learn when we , teachers stimulate their curiosity. We do not want to stick to traditional rules that is why we have a different approach through team work, steam and sel activities and storytelling. We have also incorporated technology in our classrooms to facilitate learning. For the past 8 years I have been an MIE expert, something which has enabled me and my students to do projects with schools all around the world.

Poland

 Hello everyone,
We are Ms. Dominika Prządka’s 5th grade students and we attend Janusz Kusociński Primary School No. 71 in Poznań, Poland. It’s our first time taking part in the project - THANKS A MILLION FOR HAVING US!

We’ve been learning English as a Foreign Language for 5 years (or more) now. We find this project a great opportunity to have fun and work on our language skills.  Below, you will find some interesting facts about our city:

Our school is located in the most beautiful district - Jeżyce. The district is a leafy area full of charming cafés, bookstores and tenement buildings. Our coordinates are: latitude 52.409769 and longitude 16.889244.
July and August are usually the warmest months in out city and temperature usually reaches more than 25 degrees Celsius (more than 77°F). The coldest months are usually January and February with average temperatures around -1 degrees Celsius (approx. 30°F). Poznań is the fifth-largest city in Poland with the population of approx. 540,000 people.
Through voting, we decided to focus on ZERO HUNGER (goal #2).

New Hampshire

Hello, Monster Creators around the globe! We are the fourth-grade class at Lafayette Regional School in Franconia, New Hampshire, USA. We have 15 students (7 boys, 8 girls), and we do a lot of fun projects while learning a ton. Right now we just planted 200 lettuce seeds to grow in our hydroponic garden. In September we planted underwear in our school field to test our soil's health. Our hope is grow 20 lbs of lettuce a month to give away.

There are about 90 students, Grades K -6, in our entire school. Our school is nestled in the shadows of Cannon and Lafayette mountains. They are part of the White Mountain National Forest (home to Mt Washington, the world's worst weather.) In the winter, we ski/snowboard those mountains or just take a sled ride down some of the local hills. Spring is sugaring time, and we tap trees. Yum! Yum! We hike the mountains in the summer and swim in places like Echo Lake. Fall is beautiful, with foliage and the leaves turning brilliant reds, yellows, and oranges.

Coordinates 44.2272° N, 71.7479° W -- Avg Temps. 6 F in winter to 80 F in summer.

Our Sustainable Goals are 1 and 2. We are learning how 30-40% of all the food we grow/prepare is wasted.
